A Message to Youth and High School Athletes
If we could do it over again (cliche, I know) here are a few things we would do differently.
Surrounding yourself with the right individuals ranks high on the list of priorities. Whether you're a young man or woman, the company you keep greatly influences your journey. Seek out peers who share your aspirations and values, not just in sports, but in life as a whole. If you have goals of playing baseball or softball at a high level, you will find that most people who make it to that level have a great mentor and peer group that they can use as support.
Strength Training for Youth Athletes
Every athlete progresses differently. Do not let the “Instagram coaches” and other non scientific based influences make you believe that your 10 year old should be lifting heavy weights in the gym or doing dangerous exercises that they may not be ready for. Another influence to watch for is the pace that your athlete’s peers are progressing. It is not a race, it is about having good posture and perfect form, and the ability to complete a full range of motion repetition. The athlete should only be competing with themself, and measuring their progress so they can see their own improvements!
College recruiting
When should I start worrying about the recruiting process?
The first day you walk into high school as a Freshman, if not sooner. Yes, you read that correctly, the first day of your Freshman year of high school. This is a time where you can put yourself in a great academic position or dig an inescapably deep hole that serves to limit which schools and levels of college baseball you can play at.
🔥Throwing Velocity🔥
One of the most common questions we receive is, "How can my son increase his velocity on the pitcher's mound?" Every athlete is unique in countless ways, so in our perspective, there is no perfect solution.
However, there are a few crucial factors we consider to enhance velocity, so here we go.
